title pic well…there was something giant about it

Posted by beth on February 4, 2008

Ok so the Super Bowl is over. The Giants pulled out a huge victory over the undefeated Patriots, with the winning touch down pass being caught in the end zone by a man named Plaxico. So my first question, which seems quite obvious, is:

Plaxico? What the eff is that? It sounds like his mother named him after some of the hospital’s hygienic gloves or exam table coverings. And just for your entertainment, while watching the game, Whitney and I had a hilarious time imagining that Plaxico’s middle name were Placenta. Don’t ask. We get a little loopy after too many vegan, pot-infused, maple walnut muffins. Speaking of which, I swear, y’all. More non-sports-fanatic women would watch football if Whitney and I did the commentary. Air the game on Lifetime, and we’ll even act out a compelling drama at the same time so you get to see how both of them play out.

Anyhoe, the more important question, I think we will all agree, has to do with the half-time show. No, I’m not going to ask if every half-time performer has to be all old and gnarly (even Prince, who does not seem to age, was a tad Aunt Jemima-ish in his kerchief last year), though it is a valid question. I want to know if anyone else thought that the opening of the show was a bit…odd. Oh ok I’ll just say it. Did anybody else notice that the “guitar/arrow” that shot through the heart looked rather like a giant phallus approaching, overpowering and finally penetrating the heart? Because Whitney and I were in absolute hysterics over it. We were crying and unable to breathe for several minutes. And I just kept thinking I can’t believe nobody saw this from above and noticed. Did they know and just not say anything? Because that’s how things like Val Kilmer’s myspace music page get started.

Seriously, did we just have our minds in the gutter? Because Brookie and VA apparently didn’t notice it, but we thought it was glaringly obvious. What did y’all think?
