blessed.

That reminds me of a rather obscure praise/worship song that goes a little something like this:
So blessed, I can’t contain it!/ So much, I gotta give it away./ Your love has taught me to live, now/ You are more than enough for me!
Anyhoe, I am blessed. Completely and utterly, and the Bethday 2008 celebration won’t even be over until Saturday night at least! First of all, Whitney gave me the greatest gift EVER last night. It’s a CD of songs that are particularly fun to sing about “jews.” And it is, in a word, scrumtrulescent. I was jamming out to Selena’s “Dreaming of Jews” earlier, and having a ball.
Now for today. It’s Thursday, which means I have two classes. 9-1 and 1:30-4:30. It’s a busy day, and I thought that my students might be up to something when I came in the other day to hear one of them saying, “At the next break, I need to talk to you about you-know-what.” I was also immensely proud because I’d just taught them “you-know-what,” and they were using it, and using it correctly.
So today, after the first break, I came back to class to a delicious FEAST! They’d set up a table with a table cloth and all this food they’d made, including an amazing cake that apparently had spinach and bananas in it. I know it sounds gross, but you couldn’t taste the spinach at all, AND you could pretend it was healthy. They were SO sweet. They’d made all vegetarian foods, and they had a card they’d all signed with a gift card to Target in it. How they know I like Target so much, I don’t know. I guess it’s come up. Anyway, it was really really sweet.
My afternoon class also had a little party waiting for me with cake and drinks and a card. So the Bethday party count is up to two now. Oh! And one of my co-workers brought me a vegan cookie from the coffee shop she daily patronizes. And all the other teachers had a card for me.
And all this not to mention the fabulous spa afternoon I had last weekend with my mom, aunt and sister. We got massages, had dinner together and went to the movies in celebration of…well, all of our birthdays really. My sister’s is in January, aunt’s is in February, and my mom’s was on Monday. Good times. Plus, I love getting birthday cards and waiting to open them on the morning of my birthday, so that’s what I did.
Except when I came out of my room to do it, I had to walk through the curtain of streamers my amazing roommate had hung from my door frame! And just in case you’re wondering, I did it sexily.
So let the Bethday 2008 celebration continue!! I’m loving every minute of it!
