title pic Happy Labor(less) Day!!

Posted by beth on September 1, 2008

Happy long weekend! I hope you’re not at work as I am not at work. However, having neglected to do any work for the past two weeks (unless you count blogging, reading/commenting on other people’s blogs, watching Arrested Development, registering on various get-yourself-published websites and looking for other jobs work, which, apart from the AD-watching, I kind of do), I now have to spend my “day off” getting ready to go back to work tomorrow (insert mixed feelings here).

Now, the first day of a new semester is usually pretty lax, consisting mainly of registration, bagels and hanging out with the other teachers. And having taught this class for a couple of semesters now, I pretty much have the rest of the week (if not more) planned out as well. But we’re starting up a new class this semester that I’ll be teaching two afternoons a week (*If you’re attempting to keep up with my schedule, that means I work M-F from 9-1 and T/Th from 1:30-3:30.), and I have only some idea of what I’ll be teaching there. I have a lot of ideas, and I’ve done some research. I know basically how the class will go. I just have to get it down to the details and activities for each class session. That’s the part where I am now stuck with class starting tomorrow.

My goodness, this is a boring blog post. I apologize. Please go here for something more worth your time.

Oh, but I did have a dream last night that I was playing on the Olympic co-ed indoor soccer team. I was getting to know my opponent, a man named Mohammed, whom I was defending (quite well, I must say). I asked him where he was from, and he said, “North Carolina.” I said, “What?” at which point he laughed and said, “I’m just kidding. It’s the only state I know. I learned about it in like second or third grade.” I never did get where he was really from, and then all of a sudden, there were all these kids standing around the goal. The game was apparently on hold while they let the kids play a little bit, but I didn’t get the memo, so when I noticed that my team’s goal keeper was letting balls past her on purpose, I got really upset. Then I realized what was happening and walked off the court, presumably to rest during the break. And then I woke up.
