16-year-old me wants to hang on your wall

August 22nd, 2008

Might I interest anyone in a circa 1996 sports photo of me? The reason I ask is because I’ve just now, today, over a month after we moved, gotten around to unpacking the last of the boxes lurking in my bedroom. Their contents consist mainly of office supplies, random tchotchkes and things I’ve had packed away in storage for the past three years. The office supplies, I’ll keep for class. The nick-knacks will find their proper places either on a shelf or at Goodwill, and the stored items are likely to be tossed or donated.

Well, one of the things I found was all these framed sports team pictures of me from high school. Every year, you see, they’d take an individual photo of each player in uniform and a team shot, and then you’d get both pictures, framed together with a matting that says, “Wilkes Central High School” and the year. So I have these tennis and soccer pictures that are now…well, let’s face it…completely worthless, as I am unlikely at this point to strike up a successful career in either sport that would make those pictures of “the early years” valuable to anyone. My parents don’t want them, I don’t want them, I’m quite certain that even Goodwill will have no use for them, so if there are any stalkers out there who’d like them, they are all yours.

I’ll take ‘em. I could sell the frames in a yard sale.
