Time for y’all to get crackin’. Here’s the deal. I can’t really taste anything. I mean, I can, but it’s all very muted. Everything sort of tastes like cotton balls. Even water tastes weird. So even though I am very hungry, I’m not all that interested in eating because it doesn’t taste good no matter what. Any ideas?

Um. Aside from a cold or sinus infection infection, I have no idea what that could be. You should get that checked out, buddy.

the least alarming (and frankly, the most practical) possible diagnosis was a deficiency of B12 and/or zinc. Because b12 is found primarily (perhaps exclusively?) in animal products, it is common for vegans to have a B12 deficiency. Those adhering to a vegan diet should always take a B12 supplement. Zinc is found mostly in seafood, but is also found–albeit to a lesser degree– in some nuts, seeds, and grains. You should probably take a supplement for that as well. I’m all for the vegan diet, but it isn’t a completely balanced diet. You really need to take supplements for vitamins and minerals that are found primarily in animal sources.
mmmmuah.

DLF’s fact-finding sounds very persuasive and probable to me. Go get you some B-12, buddy!
