Cheering Stations!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am ecstatic to give you a list of cheering stations for the 2008 Washington DC Avon Walk!! If you will be in the area on May 3 and 4, please please please please please come out to one of these stations and cheer for The Rack Pack!! And by the way, I don’t know why the font gets all tiny at the bottom. Please disregard the font size and focus solely on the information. Thank you.

Saturday, May 3

Georgetown Running Company (Mile 9)

3401 M Street, NW, Washington, DC 20007

Peak viewing times: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Notes: The cheering station will be located in front of the Georgetown Running Company store located on M street. Limited street parking is available.

Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative (Mile 14.5)

Corner of Van Ness and Wisconsin Blvd, (4201 Wisconsin Blvd) Washington, DC

Peak viewing times: 12:00pm – 3:00pm

Notes: The cheering station will be at the corner of Van ness and Wisconsin Blvd. Limited street parking may be available. The Cheering Station is within walking distance of the Tenleytown-American University Metro stop on the Red line.

Tenleytown Metro Stop (Red Line) (Mile 15)

Wisconsin Ave NW North of Albemarle St, Washington, DC 20016

Peak viewing times: 12:30pm-3:00pm

Notes: The cheering station will be along Wisconsin Ave. The Tenleytown-American University Metro Stop is located on the Red Line. Limited street parking may be available.

American University (Hannay Gate) (Mile 16.5)

Corner of Nebraska and Hannay Gate NW Washington, DC 20016

Peak viewing times: 1:30pm – 4:30pm

Notes: Please park in the Nebraska Ave parking lot across the street (pay lot) or take the Tenleytown Metro stop on the Red Line and walk.

Trinity Presbyterian Church (Mile 23)

7009 Wilson Lane, Bethesda, MD 20817

Peak viewing times: 2:30pm – 5:30pm

Notes: Parking is limited, please carpool. Church activities will be going on at this time, please be sure to park carefully and to not block the entrance to the parking lot. Walkers will be walking past on Wilson Blvd.

Bradley Shopping Center (Mile 25)

Corner of Arlington Rd. and Bradley Blvd (route 191), Bethesda, MD 20814

Peak viewing times: 3:00pm – 6:30pm

Notes: Street parking is also available. Walkers will be walking past on Bradley Blvd.

Norwood Park Wellness Village (Southwest Corner off Hillandale Road) (Mile 26.2)

4700 Norwood Drive, Bethesda, MD 20815

Peak viewing times: 3:30pm – 6:30pm

Notes: Join us as we welcome the Walkers into our Wellness Village! The cheering station is located along the trail leading from Hillandale road to the southwest corner of the park. Visitors Parking is available at Little Falls Park only. Please follow posted signs. (Please do not park in residential parking, as non-residential vehicles are subject to ticketing and towing.) Norwood Park is within walking distance of the Bethesda Metro stop on the Red line.

Sunday, May 4

Fort Reno Park (Mile 5.5)

Corner of Nebraska Ave and Reno Rd., NW, Washington, DC 20018

Peak viewing times: 9:30am – 11:30am

Notes: Cheering station is located on the northeast corner of the park at the corner of Nebraska Ave and Reno Rd.

Schlotsky’s Deli (Mile 6.5)

4340 Connecticut Ave, NW Washington, DC 20008

Peak viewing times: 9:30am – 11:30am

Notes: Cheering station is located on the sidewalk in front of Schlotsky’s Deli. It is within easy walking distance of the Van Ness/ UDC metro stop on the red line. Please note, the restaurant will open at 11:00am.

Long and Foster Realty (Mile 9)

2603 Connecticut Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20008

Peak viewing times: 10:00am – 12:30pm

Notes: The cheering station is located on the corner of Connecticut Ave and Calvert Ave, NW in front of the Long and Foster Realty. It is within easy walking distance of the Woodley Park-Zoo/ Adam’s Morgan metro stop (Red line).

Kalorama Community Park (Mile 9.5)

Intersection of Kalorama Rd. Columbia Rd and 19th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20009

Peak viewing times: 10:30am – 1:00 pm

Notes: The cheering station is located along the southern edge of the park at the intersection of Columbia Rd, Kalorama Rd, and 19th Street.

Lauriol Plaza (Mile 10.5)

1835 18th St., NW, Washington, DC 20009

Peak viewing times: 11:00am – 1:30 pm

Notes: The cheering station is located in front of Lauriol Plaza restaurant on 18th street. Limited street parking is available.

Teaism (Mile 11.5)

800 Connecticut Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20009

Peak viewing times: 11:30am – 2:00 pm

Notes: The cheering station is located in front of Teaism Restaurant (the restaurant will be closed) on H street. Some street parking is available. This cheering station is located within easy walking distance of Farragut West metro stop (Orange and Blue lines) and Farragut North metro stop (Red line).
