information fair

March 13th, 2008

I apologize for this, but my brain has condensed itself into a sticky purple mush at this point, and I don’t remember who needs to get credit for this idea. It wasn’t entirely mine. It came out of a conversation I had with…someone…a week or two (or maybe more) ago. If it was you, I’m really sorry. Please identify yourself and take credit for your genius.

So as we all know, I’ve been on eHarmony (I’m off now, praise Jesus), and while it has ultimately been the biggest waste of money, second only to me-n-Brookie’s subscription to Mira magazine, I cannot deny that it has provided us all with hours of entertainment. Anyhoe, we are also all well aware that the first time I meet a dude, it is not a date. I don’t date strangers. It is an “informational meeting.” And that’s where this idea picks up.

What if we held an “information fair?” You know, kind of like speed dating + job fair, where people would set up booths with trifold display boards so any interested parties could get more information and possibly pick up an application. My display would include photos of me doing ridiculous things, wearing crazy outfits, teaching and lounging around on a Saturday around 1:30 with no face on and all the hair on the right side of my head matted down whilst the left side remained perfectly coiffed. I would also include family photos, a personal statement and a few testimonials of people who think I’m awesome. I might offer up such information as a list of hobbies or most-played songs from my iTunes library. And if a gentleman were particularly charming, I might give him a peek at Onward Hoe!. Oh, and I would most certainly offer a sampling of some delicious vegan cupcakes just so that they could see how delicious vegan cupcakes can actually be.

What do you think? Do you think it could also double as an Avon Walk fundraiser??

I’m pretty sure the idea was VA’s. Discussed right after the gourmet chaos concert.

So, I’m a genius, eh? Can that be part of my display board at the information fair? Do people date geniuses? I don’t recall any pictures of Einstein with a woman…

    Gourmet Chaos….mmmmhhhh.
