to all the boys I’ve loved before
First of all, if you are at all a fan of the Shanes (Barnard and Everett), do yourself a favor and buy their new album, “Pages.” It is, in a word, magnificent. If you’re not a fan of them or of Christian music in general, don’t spend your money. I still wouldn’t consider it a waste if you did spend your money, but if you don’t spend money on such things, you might consider it a waste. It’s SO good, though. I downloaded it from iTunes last night before I went to bed, and I’ve listened to the whole thing twice already today. Plus I burned it onto a CD so I can keep listening to “Embracing Accusation” in the car. On repeat.
Now, I needed a piece of paper earlier, so I got it out of this notebook that I have in which I do some writing sometimes. Well, I found in said notebook several letters I’d written to different boys. I never intended to send the letters; I just needed to write them for my own personal cathartic therapy. But in re-reading them, I got to thinking: What if I wrote letters “to all the boys I’ve loved before” (to borrow from Willie Nelson a bit) and published them in a book? No names. Some of them will know who they are, and some will not, which adds to the intrigue, I think. It’d be like trying to figure out who “You’re So Vain” is about. What do you think? Lame or NY Times Best Seller?
